When you see me, do not think of insurance...BUT... when you think of insurance, see me...or better yet, call me!!!
Every person should have their own insurance agent for themselves.  Many people think they can pick their own coverages and decide the best way to protect their family from picking out insurance on a website. As you might agree, there are a lot of different coverages and choices and if you do not have the proper coverage in place at the time of a claim, you could risk everything.

A great article from the Southwest Premier Insurance Company notes; there are 5 main reasons why you need to pick a local agent.. April Schaffroth with Farmers Insurance.

When people choose to insure their autos and home with an online insurance company or 800-direct company they're giving up some HUGE benefits of working with a local, independent insurance agent. Now, you may be able to get a little savings by using these other sources but what you gain in a few extra dollars in your pocket could cost you so much more in the end.

1.  You Have Somewhere to go if You have a Question
If you have an online insurance policy and need a question answered, you will likely have to call an 800 number.  There are long hold times, frequent transfers to various departments,  and /or repeating your situation/question to several representatives when you actually speak to a live person!  When you call your local, insurance agent you get a local, live, familiar, trusted person on the other end ready to take care of you. They'll answer those urgent questions, or help you with your distressing claim, or provide service on your policy to make changes because they are interested in YOU!

 2.  Someone is Watching Out for You
Your local insurance agency will conduct a full review of you policy/policies at each renewal and when changes are made. If there are new discounts available, a new product to better protect your family, or more chances to save money on your insurance for your family they will tell you!  Your insurance agent wants you to save the most money while getting the best coverage’s possible and it's their job to work between you and the insurance company to ensure this happens.  Insurance Agents are proud to know the majority of their policy- holders personally and watch out for YOU and your family!

 3. They May Help You Save Money on Other Insurance Policies
A major benefit to having a local insurance agent is that they can help with all of your personal insurance needs and coverage’s for your family’s assets.  A vast array of insurance services are available from auto to life insurance, renters and homeowners insurance, boat, RV and motorcycle coverage, and much, much more.  Your insurance Agency insurance agent knows your personal needs, your family’s situation, your assets/estate and can recommend policies and coverage to save you money and ensure you’re properly covered.

 4.  A Car Insurance Agent Can Keep Your Records in Order
Your local insurance agency is equipped with the latest in insurance industry technology while still offering the great face-to-face customer service you expect to receive.  Whether you have one or several policies, the agent in the office can access you information quickly and become easily familiar with your policy.  Agencies usually keep detailed records of your assets, as well as a history of your calls, claims and current inquiries. A familiar face/voice and up to date technology it can't get better than that!

 5.  Having a Relationship with a Person
These days, you can order pizza online, send flowers online, bank online, and go to school online.  The internet often replaces face-to-face interaction and it can be difficult to remember how beneficial it is to talk to a live person.  If you are in a car accident, your computer cannot answer questions about your coverage’s or obtain certain paperwork for you.  Having a local insurance agent offers the benefits of having a business relationship with an actual human being who cares for you and your family.

We don't like to nag but...make sure your Life Insurance policy is where your beneficiaries can find it.                                                 What, you say?? You do not have life insurance? Call us today!
It can be hard to decide who will be your beneficiary.                                                                                                   From www.trustedchoice.com: Naming a life insurance beneficiary should be an easy and uncomplicated process. While it can be straightforward in many cases, there are a number of potential legal, financial, and tax-related problems that can occur if you don’t name your beneficiaries properly. Therefore, it’s important to find out how you can avoid making simple but potentially costly mistakes.
How do you designate a life insurance beneficiary legally? There are two basic types of life insurance beneficiaries:
    1. Primary beneficiary: The primary beneficiary is the person (or persons) who will receive the proceeds of the life insurance policy when the insured person dies. However, the primary beneficiary will not receive any proceeds if he or she dies before the death of the named insured.
    2. Contingent beneficiary: This is also known as the secondary beneficiary. The contingent beneficiary will not receive any of the life insurance proceeds if the primary beneficiary is still alive when the insured person dies. The contingent beneficiary is only entitled to receive proceeds if the primary beneficiary dies before the named insured.
Many professionals in the industry feel that the best or safest approach is to name a primary beneficiary and a contingent beneficiary on a life insurance policy.

Once you decide on who will be your beneficiary; the biggest give you can give them is the copies of your Life Insurance, Will, etc.  Please make sure they are aware of how to access those documents and who to contact in the event of a loss.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              If you do not have any Life insurance in place, make sure to call us at April Schaffroth Farmers Insurance Agency: 602-297-5155.
